Over four weeks in August and September, a remarkable young man named Chad Graham will be tackling a grueling 4800km off-road journey from Kalgoorlie in WA to Cobar in NSW – all in the name of charity.
As a 16-year-old, back in 2007, keen sportsman Chad was involved in a motocross accident that dislocated his neck, leaving him a C5/C6 incomplete quadriplegic. Rather than letting this incident inhibit and define him, Chad approached his situation with a positivity that is infectious.
He threw himself into rehabilitation, and with support from charities, well-wishers and his family, Chad has been able to complete his education, earn his driver’s licence and participate in a number of sports. He has also become a motivational figure in his own right, giving talks to young people who attend the Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney.
Chad has since set up the Roll 101 charity, with the aim of providing assistance to young people affected by chronic or terminal illness, or by catastrophic injuries. And in order to raise funds for the cause, he will shortly embark on the first of many ‘Chad’s Challenges’ across Australia.
His first challenge will begin on 19 August, when Chad will set out in his modified 1000cc buggy from Kalgoorlie to begin a journey of nearly 5000km that will take him to Cobar in NSW by mid-September.
Emjay Insurance Brokers is delighted to be supporting Chad’s Challenge, and we wish him all the very best for this and his future endeavours. If you’d like to find out more about Chad and his charity, visit www.chadschallenge.com.au
